the candidate. everyone else has to fall in line. kamala harris will be the vice president, they created a deal and put it in place and they thought that they could basically pass one off on the american people and get joe elected this fall and let kamala harris be the new person that this ruling coalition holds up as president. but now as they said, the king has no clothes. and everybody has been exposed. they were in freefall for a panic today to figure how you put this ruling coalition back. but on the flipside the republican party has never been more united, they are about working people, people that have paychecks and this coalition that they had was a coalition of the elite. elite universities, elite politicians, elite union leaders. elite academics, it is elite everything and they are losing touch with the working people because joe biden had no answer on inflation pack no answer on the border, these are the issues affecting every american every day. >> jesse: and the coalition has completely collapsed.

even reporters at the white house. many of the people you just saw have spent time with the president personally. just a few months ago, they wrote this. as anyone who has recently spent time with biden, and i have can tell you, use in full possession of his faculties, completely lucid and with excellent grasp of detail. but this very morning, he wrote this. given where we are, i must very reluctantly join the chorus asking biden to voluntarily step aside. with emphasis on the voluntary aspect. he said it, he is just joining the chorus and that is what the media does. they just do with the rest of the media does until they need to pivot to save their hide. biden's debate was such a problem that it is causing issues in his marriage. >> everybody calmed down and i will tell you why. it is fine to not spin what happened last night and we are not going to.

shortlist joins us now. so suddenly there is a surprise that joe biden does not have what it takes. are you buying that, senator? >> no, not at all, jesse. you really hit the nail on the head, this is a massive scandal. for years now, the media has lied to the american people about what is obvious and has been obvious for a long time. and now they are trying to pivot because they realized that joe biden had such a disastrous performance that he is now a massive political problem, not just for himself but for democratic senators, democratic house candidates and they want to toss this guy overboard because now the american people see what has been obvious to conservatives and republicans and close watchers of joe biden for a long time. i think it is also important, jesse, to point out the contrast really matters here. it is not just that joe biden had a disastrous debate performance, it is that donald trump did extremely well. he was in command of the facts, he was funny, he was joking about his golf game. he showed some compassion to people who had lost relatives

and loved ones to the biden migrant crime crisis. and you take all of that together and compare the two, and it is just very hard to conclude that swing voters will not be heavily swayed in trump's direction. last night was a disaster, both because biden was so bad for the biden campaign but also because trump was so good and that contrast i think will really drive debate coverage and how swing voters see the selection and the next few weeks. >> jesse: the former president is not even getting the credit he deserves because biden was so bad but he was disciplined, he created great contrast on illegal immigration and the economy. and it was funny and not the genocidal dictator that if the media had portrayed him as and that is probably what hurts them even more. >> ask act that is exactly right, jesse. he really had a masterful performance year. and the comparison to biden just illustrates how big of a

and the things that we did overseas and not everybody can do that. adam! how's it going, brother? we live pretty close to each other. so he's always coming over. when i go to jack's house, we watch a lot of football, hang out. we go outside the friendship has kind of grown into a family i was overseas on a deployment. i got separated from my marines and i got hit in the neck, and it broke my neck and paralyzed me. 14 years ago, i was on a training mission. did a military freefall, and i had some faulty equipment. i hit the ground. going, 30 to 40 knots and was instantly paralyzed. i met jack fanning when he invited us to park city, utah, through his foundation. i was able to actually get on the mountain and ski with my family, i can't put into words what that meant.

has not been asked to tap in. avenue some does not want to be the sacrificial lamb, you would rather weight until 28, i get it and neither of those two pulled better than biden. so joe may just be in it to lose it. michael is the former press secretary to first lady jill biden. michael, what happened last night? >> it was a bad night, that's what happened last night. you and i talked about what he needed to do. and i was very specific that it was not really a focus on policy or memorizing stats, all he needed to do was show strength, show that he was agile, show that he could counterpunch. show that he could contextualize where we were when he inherited the white house and where we are now. he was not able to do any of those things. look, i was a competitive swimmer for 17 years and i had one job and it was to touch the wall first. and if i didn't, i lost. last night my team lost.

we lost the debate. >> jesse: i got it. and you probably had the best preanalysis of anybody. maybe you should have been prepping him over at camp david, you could have been the 17th camp counselor over there. what are people saying, michael? inside the inner circle, inside democrat circles? >> no chance. no chance of replacing the president. i would never expect him to be replaced, that is not how parties work. the republican party rallied around mr trump after his convictions. it's the same thing here. the party will not leave the leader of the party. it rarely ever happens, it will not happen this time. so it's kind of like a buckle up feeling. there is really nobody who has said anything publicly, any elected officials that would like to see him replaced. and even if they did, they would be the minority.
