Washington County is showcased in a new episode of Discover Wisconsin (1)

A historical theater in West Bend, a race track in Slinger billed as the world's fastest 1/4-mile oval, and an automobile museum and old-fashioned ice cream parlor in Hartford ― they're just some of the locations that’ll be featured on a new episode of Discover Wisconsin focusing on Washington County.

This episode, called "Washington County, Love Your Neighbor," is available to stream now and will air statewide at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, on Bally Sports Wisconsin, and at varying times on local affiliates of the Discover Wisconsin Regional Television Network.

Discover Wisconsin hosts Andrea Boehlke and Eric Paulsen will profileselect county attractions in West Bend, Slinger, Hartford, Hubertus and Germantown.

"I am super excited. I want people to know where they can work and live," said Washington County Executive Josh Schoemann. He said county officials talked with various chambers of commerce and Visit Washington County about places to be highlighted on the travel and tourism TV show.

"The places complement each other," he said.

There will be four segments with multiple places profiled for each segment.

Here are the places being profiled and how to visit them.

West Bend Main Street (Segment 1)

West Bend Farmers Market

The West Bend Farmers Market runs from 7:30 to 11 a.m. from May 20 to Oct. 21. It is at a temporary location at6th Avenue, Poplar Street and 5th Avenue due to the downtown road construction this summer. Next year, it will return to its original location at 215 N. Main St. The long-standing farmers market has arts and crafts, farmers' products, entertainment and food.

Tower Heritage Center

The Tower Heritage Center campus, 320 S. 5th Ave., is home to the1889 Courthouse Museum, the 1886 Jailhouse Museumand the Washington CountyResearch Center and Archives.

It is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. The farmers market loops around the Tower Heritage Center.

The Bend Theater

The Bend Theater, a historical theater at 125 N. Main St. was built in 1929 as a Vaudeville theater. It closed in 2006 and opened again in 2020. It features a variety of social and entertainment options.

Hartford-Slinger (Segment 2)

Wisconsin Auto Museum in Hartford

Showcasing transportation history, the Wisconsin Auto Museum at 147 N. Rural St. features classic and vintage autos and other historical items related to the automobile industry.

It's open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Admission is $12 for adults; $10 for seniors (age 62 and older) and $6 for children ages 6 to 16. Children 5 and under are admitted free.

Scoop DeVille in Hartford

Opened in 2009 in a historic building in downtown Hartford at 65 N. Main St., Scoop DeVille is an old-fashioned ice cream parlor with an operational soda fountain and checkerboard floor. The shop features homemade ice cream, nuts, nostalgic candy and soda in retro glass bottles.

Slinger Speedway

Slinger Speedway, at 280 Cedar Creek Road, is a historic race track that opened in 1948 and, according to its Facebook page, is the "world's fastest 1/4 mile, high-banked asphalt oval." It has races and events.

Hubertus-Germantown (Segment 3)

Holy Hill Art Farm

Holy Hill Art Farm, on a 165-year-old, 80-acre farm at 4958 Hwy 167 in Hubertus, has events such as art and farm days, art classes, farm dinners, tribute concerts, a Rhubarb Wine Walk, Dog Days of Summer and a Flannel Fest.

Admission is $4 for the art and farm market. The next art and farm market is Sept. 16 and 17. Another is set for Oct. 7 and 8.

Old Germantown

Old Germantown, W148 N12696 Pleasant View Drive, is a 120-acre farmland that was settled in 1842. It has a café, sausage shop, brewery and an outdoor barnyard patio.

Hours are 4 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, noon to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Volunteer Center of Washington County (Segment 4)

The Volunteer Center of Washington County, 303 W. Water St., West Bend, provides volunteer opportunities and resources for the county.

This segment starts with The Hub, a gathering space for the community that serves coffee at the volunteer center. It will also highlight The Do Good Bus, a bus ride that visits a local nonprofit organization and provides a morning or afternoon of service, and CampSuperHero, a camp for kids entering grades 5 through 12.
