The 27 best high teas in Glasgow (2024)

The Kimpton Blythswood Square Hotel is a 5 star luxury hotel in Glasgow's City Centre and the only one of its kind in the city. It boasts gorgeous Georgian architecture, impeccable service, recently renovated rooms and an incredible spa. The hotel also has a fabulous destination restaurant Bo and Birdy, as well as bars and private event areas.

5-star for amenities not service.I visited for a wedding venue viewing, and was left waiting for 30 minutes after the scheduled appointment time. Admittedly there might have been a mix up with the confirmation of the meeting. However, that aside we were left for 30 minutes to sit in the lobby of a 5-star hotel without being checked on once by staff or offered a coffee. When I went to reception to complain, there was no apology or really any acknowledgement that it was poor service. I mentioned that the lobby seats were cold and mentioned coffee, I was pointed to the restaurant - not walked over to it and seated. At this point we chose to leave.5 star hotels charge a premium, as part of that premium I expect the utmost service. You simply won’t find that here. I saw guests queuing to get into the restaurant for breakfast service too, which appeared to be caused by a lack of waiting staff.I know that seems to be a minor issue, but it’s a 5 star hotel, not a 3.

Enjoyed a very relaxing long weekend at the hotel and made the most of the fantastic breakfast, bar, and spa. I can't wait to return for another stay soon. Thank you to the hotel staff for running such a lovely place.

Absolutely brilliant hotel stay, felt like we were away from the outside world for 24hrs. Lovely professional staff from start to finish, spacious rooms, great thermal experience and gorgeous Sound Therapy session in the spa. Food was delicious too! Would recommend.

I stayed recently for two nights in a deluxe twin room and found it to be a really relaxing and luxury experience. The room was clean and comfortable, with great features - floor to ceiling windows with a view of the city, a mini fridge, safe, two comfy chairs, a flat-screen TV and a lovely bathroom with separate shower and bath.We also had breakfast, which was so delicious. We took something from the hot buffet, cold buffet and a dish from the kitchen one morning, which is included in the price. Everything tasted so fresh. Fantastic. The highlight of our stay, though, was the spa facilities (which are free to use for guests between 7:30-9:30am and 5-8pm). The pools were so warm and relaxing, especially the dark pool (Coll), with jets of water being blasted out from the pool floor. I loved that. Great hydro pool too, along with the two saunas, salt room and steam room. The snow shower was an unexpected bonus too. Every part of the spa was just spotless, including the dressing room.Every member of staff we met couldn’t have been friendlier or more pleasant. They went above and beyond for us, helping in any way they could with anything. We were even invited down to the hotel lobby for complementary wine between 4 and 5pm, which was a really nice gesture to guests. Everything was as I hoped it to be and more.Kimpton Blythswood is a fantastic and gorgeous hotel - we loved it in just about every way, and we will be returning to stay very soon.

Wow what a place, lovely staff, great food, ambiance, lovely spa, lovely rooms. Its a dog friendly hotel so get to meet some beautiful breeds. Watch out for parking tickets, the buggers wait by your car ready to slam a ticket on your windscreen within minutes

They go above and beyond to make your stay perfect, our room was beautiful. The staff are friendly, everything is spotless. The spa was simply wonderful and we look forward to returning once it has been refurbished.Breakfast is very well put together, and we enjoyed the social hour with complimentary wine in the evening. We brought our little dog with us and he was totally spoilt, being allowed to use the private park opposite and having treats in the room.Practically perfect in every way, 5 stars.

Kimpton Blythswood is an excellent 5 star hotel with really good rooms, impeccable service, and excellent location.I was very impressed by the hotel and you have to get the rooms with breakfast included so that you’ll get to enjoy your stay even more. The breakfast was really good, with a mix of breakfast classics to order and a buffet Scottish/English breakfast, fruits, yogurts and cereals.I won’t stay anywhere else in Glasgow!

This property has the most amazing staff! Knowledgeable, helpful, and each person has a warm approach. Our group really enjoyed this experience. Ask about the history of the property and you will discover its roots in auto racing. Wander through the lobby and each person will smile and ask if you need anything. Also, the restaurant is out of this world! Once, at dinner, we couldn't decide on one started, so ordered 5. We loved them all! One was so good, we ordered it again. We had an excellent experience tasting new types of Scotch with the help of the people at the bar. One person in our party has celiac and the kitchen was very accommodating. Thank you Blysthwood Square Hotel! You made a short stay memorable!

Wonderful hotel located just a short walk to city centre. The staff were great and accommodating - loved the service from this hotel. The facilities in the spa were so much fun to go through the different rooms and very relaxing and I can not NOT mention the beds - best nights sleep ever. Thank you Kimpton!

This was the first time we stayed at the hotel. We had a great stay. The staff were outstanding, they could not be more helpful. The room was spacious, and spotlessly clean with what would have been a great view of the square if not for the fog! We also went to the spa and that was very good as well. The only thing that let our stay down was the pillows. They were far too soft for my personal liking. We were at the front of the hotel and the noise from outside was not dulled down at all, lots of shouting through the night from the street, obviously not the fault of the hotel but additional windows inside the original ones could help with this (as well as helping to retain heat in the bathroom area which was very cold, particularly overnight).Would not hesitate to stay again.

Outstanding hotel with luxe rooms and excellent service. We spent two nights in a room overlooking the Square. The room itself was very comfortable, with a cozy bed that allowed for a good, deep sleep. The bath had a separate shower and a soaking bathtub, which filled up very quickly. Plush bathrobes were very nice on a cold morning. The bar had great co*cktails and friendly service. We had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant and found the food and service to be excellent. I'm sorry that the pool and spa were undergoing renovations, but we will be back.

Our check-in experience was impeccable with the concierge coming out to the cab and taking our bags immediately off our hands. The front desk check in was smooth and the lady assisting us was helpful in answering questions as well as making us a breakfast reservation for the next morning. However, upon entering the room, I was a bit startled at the uncleanliness considering this is a 5 star hotel. There was an open can of Diet co*ke in the bathroom upon check in, stains on the decorative pillows on the beds (not the actual sleeping pillows), rips and stains in the robes, and a stain on the rug. I was a bit surprised to see all of this in a 5 star hotel. That lost the first star. The second star is lost because of spa/fitness facilities. The hotel has very odd hours for access to both the gym and the spa. The hours are very random: 8am to 10am and 4pm to 8pm. Which is very strange times. Lastly the fitness room does not have a treadmill which was quite surprising for a major hotel.I do want to highlight that most staff was extremely helpful and polite.

Kimpton Blythswood Square Glasgow is located in the city centre, only a 10 minute walk from Glasgow Grand Central. It's relatively quiet too despite being so central. The building is impressive with its stately Georgian architecture and private gardens out front. The hotel's interior is light and airy with modern furniture, high ceilings, and spacious rooms. The rooms here are designed with comfort in mind. Every detail has been thought of to ensure the space is not only practical and functional but also extremely comfortable.Kimpton is dog-friendly and welcome them with open arms. There are no extra (or hidden) pet charges and the hotel provides anything you might have forgotten.Nothing was an inconvenience at Kimpton. Simple touches, like arranging to have breakfast brought to us in the lounge upstairs so our dog could dine with us, made our stay even more enjoyable. The staff were exceptional and went out of their way to assist us. Nothing was ever too much trouble and our dog was treated like any other guest.

Planned on staying here 3 nights however, as part of my normal check in to a hotel routine, I always examine the bed. The mattress was VERY stained and I found something else concerning. The manager was more than happy, willing, and worked very hard to get us another room. They even had staff allow us to check another room and offered it to us instead. But we just did not feel comfortable staying in the hotel, but the new room and mattress was perfect. They did give my a full refund. The staff once again was amazing in handling the situation and I cannot speak more highly about them. Always pull the sheets of your hotel bed and check the corners of the mattress.

Nice room but our stay was marred by a constant cigarette smell that emanated from the toilet vents, probably from another room although this was supposed to be a non-smoking hotel. Our request to switch rooms was turned down as the hotel was full so we had to endure the smell for a night. As this occurred at night (9ish pm) we had to wait for quite some time before someone came with a room spray (apparently very few staff at night) which left the room smelling like artificial sweet flowers. The next day we were shifted to another room without much issue, though we feel the Staff could be friendlier during the process.Breakfast was really amazing. Great spread, excellent quality.

This hotel is a true 5-star experience. I was booked here by a neighboring 5-star hotel I booked which was still under construction. Kimpton took us in with such short notice and gave us the best service like they would do for their guests. The location was pretty central and walkable from where all the shops were in Buchanan St. I love that the location of the hotel is actually a little walk from the busy area because it was a quiet location. The staff were incredibly so nice and friendly and so attentive to everything we needed. We have stayed in many other 5-star hotels and the service here by far is the best service we have had. Felt like a queen being a guest here. If I ever come back to Glasgow, I would love to stay with them again.

We stayed for one night to meet up with friends. We were impressed by the service from the time we arrived until we left. The staff are friendly and helpful, especially the concierge team. The rooms are a good size and well appointed with a very comfortable bed. We didn't have time to sample the spa but it did look very inviting. We arrived back at the hotel after dinner and felt that the bar area was a bit of a let down. It is small for the size of the hotel and is open to the dining room which was closed. The combination of the empty restaurant and some poor lighting gave the bar an unwelcome feel.

We were invited as guests to a private function at the hotel. The serving staff were completely uninterested and slow to serve what little choice of drinks that they could be bothered to offer. If this is supposed to be a Five Star hotel, then they definitely need to be trained how to look after guests. Otherwise the Hotel was beautiful inside and we did finally get excellent service from the reception staff when we requested a taxi after the event.

Wow what can I say, an amazing stay with my husband. The whole experience was awesome. The French concierge (sorry didn’t get his name) was truly the best I’ve ever experienced. Nothing was too much trouble. 5🌟 all the way!All the staff were exceptional

I think it’s the best hotel in Glasgow city center. Rooms are well decorated and fitted. Bathroom was specious with big bath tub.Hotel restaurant was very tasty, we had their breakfast and dinner on most of the days.Another word to say about staff - they really make you feel welcomed. Everyone was extremely helpful and nice. Will be coming back when coming back to Glasgow!

I spend lots of time in hotels, with my expectations adjusted for their price and location. This is a relatively expensive hotel, in which I stayed for two nights in February 2023. Unfortunately, the quality of service was bad, despite the staff appearing professional and friendly. The bathtub in our room flooded the bedroom - a gigantic puddle formed to the right of the bed. The staff came to sort it out when we were out. Their solution was to put a single white towel on top of the puddle, which, unsurprisingly, became soaked immediately. With this 'solution', we were still unable to use the flooded part of the room. We only discovered this 'solution' when we got back to our room at night, tired, and decided to live with the puddle until we check out the next day... The funny thing is that that Saturday, customers could help themselves to free champagne or wine - I don't remember which one - in the hotel foyer. In my view, dry room carpet should come before the free booze if we're talking luxury...

From start to finish the service was excellent, nothing was too much bother and the room service breakfast was on point! Only £5 extra to have your breakfast delivered to your room. The rooms are lovely, clean and have good amenities. The free mini bar snacks is always a nice touch along with nice coffee and tea. Staff are generally local people and well trained. Only down side was the Spa, the restrictions on entry for paying hotel guests is ridicules. The spa was so busy within the allocated time slots that it felt uncomfortable. Paying guests had nowhere to hang towels so they were putting them on the wet floor. Every sauna and steam room fool, pools fool. It was just uncomfortable. They should allow paying guests full entry to the pool and spa at any point in the day into the later evening 10pm. They also need adequate places to hang robes and towels. Guys, if you’re letting 50 people into the spa then you need 50 hangers on the walls to hang robes. All in all the hotel is very night, staff are good and I would definitely recommend. But I wouldn’t come back for a spa day unless they sorted it out. Looking over some of the hotel reviews, most of them are marked down due to the spa.

Beautiful hotel, gorgeous spacious room and bathroom, exceptional service. Complimentary glass of wine on arrival was particularly welcomed. Also, a fully stacked mini fridge with soft drinks, snacks and chocs was included in the price.A massive thank you to Davy (concierge) for your wonderful service, you were so helpful and friendly. We will definitely be back!
