It’s time for back to school season and for me that means back to packing lunches. Lately, I’ve been trying to do a few alternative to your everyday sandwich such as making these PB & J Roll Ups with Nature’s Harvest® Bread. I thought my kids would love these little sandwiches as a way to mix up the daily routine.

My kids loved them and always like to see what’s in their lunches. I decided to mix some fruit, cheese, and the roll ups with Entenmann’s® Little Bites™ Blueberry Muffins. The muffins were certainly a huge hit with my kids. They were just the perfect size too for their lunchbox. I like to add a little variety to their lunchbox; however, my kids tend to lean to more fruit during the lunchtime hour than veggies. Do yours?

I always strive to provide them though with wholesome snacks that will help them make it through the day without the grumblings of an empty stomach. Last year, on a field trip just about 30 minutes before lunchtime all the kids in my son’s class started asking “when is lunch?” repeatedly. I ask his teacher if they were always like this and she said it’s an everyday thing about half an hour before lunchtime, that just made me realize he needs a little bit more for breakfast too. I sure hope that will hold over that need for food before lunch, but thankfully I can pack his lunch well to get him through the afternoon.

All you need for these Roll Ups is a simple peanut butter and jelly with one slice of bread, then roll it up and slice. By using the Nature’s Harvest® Bread you can get 8g or more of Whole Grains in a single serving! That means you are giving your kids a fun and tasty lunch plus a boost of nutritious value too.

This is such a fun take on a traditional PB&J sandwich. It is also a fun way to pack a creative lunch for your kids and help break up the monotony of having the same old lunch everyday. We love the mini muffins at our house and they are the one thing my nephew will eat.

Right now, my son’s favorite lunch items are either a pb&j sandwich or a ‘cheeseburger’, which is what he calls a grilled cheese sandwich. I am curious to see if he’ll eat the roll ups.

Is there any kid out there who does not like roll-ups?! I’ve made them with carrots and hummus, pb n’ jam, salmon and cream cheese…the list goes on. They’re so easy to make and the kids love them!

What an awesome idea! I’m going to try it this week, see if it gets eaten or not. Lunches are the bane of my existence. There is nothing I hate more than packing lunches…this summer, for camp, I’ve just been tossing lunchables into their lunchbox. I’ll get back to nutrition soon… 🙂
