So you might be thinking, where did this handsome writer from QuoteTheAnime get the news from? I’ll be glad to answer that! I did my best to scout the dangerous jungle of Twitter, walk through the ruthless desert of Reddit, and dive deep into the maze of Youtube where I found several sources to back up my claims!

Let’s go with Twitter first! I found it in no other than the official Twitter account of the Bungou Stray Dogs series. It was in Japanese however, so I had to summon my inner samurai to decipher this language. But I was too lazy so I just used Google Translate.
The message says, “Please Watch Boku no Pico!”.
Okay, just messing with you, the Japanese is actually translated to this in English,
“[INFO] It has been about five and a half years since the TV anime was broadcast. Finally, the production of the new season of “Bungo Stray Dogs” has been decided! A teaser visual drawn by character design and animation director Nobuhiro Arai is also released! What are the new enemies that stand in the way !? Stay tuned for more updates! ▼ New season official website”
Now, do you trust me? We can definitely take the word of the official Twitter account of the anime series. The poster was also handled by the Animation Director of the series so this is, without a doubt, as legit as it gets.
Official Website
Aside from the visual teaser poster that was released by the official Twitter account of Bungou Stray Dogs, there was also an official announcement made by the OFFICIAL Website of Bungou Stray Dogs. I mean come on, what’s more official than an OFFICIAL WEBSITE dedicated for the anime itself. This information is more secure than your payment for your student loans.
I must admit, their website is looking fireeee! And that design is hella sick! Props to whoever edited that and give that man a raise!
The announcement is as follows,
“2021.11.07

What is the new enemy to stand in front of the armed detective agency that confronted the “demon” Fyodor after a deadly battle with the Port Mafia and the union <Guild> !? Please look forward to the follow-up report.”
Other than that, we also have another piece of news that was posted on the site. I know it’s very hard to read Japanese but Papa QuoteTheAnime is always here for you! Open up, here comes the translation!
This is what the official Bungou Stray Dogs website also has to say,

What is Bungou Stray Dogs
So if you’re new you must be hella confused as to what Bungou Stray Dogs is and how the heck is everyone so hyped for this series. Worry not, for I will answer every curious question you have throughout this blog! To begin, let’s explain to the newcomers what Bungou Stray Dogs is.
Bungou Stray Dogs is an Anime Adaptation of the Manga Series with the same name. It’s first season aired back in April 7, 2016 all the way to June 23, 2016 and had a total of 12 episodes. It was animated by Studio Bones and is one of the best Supernatural Mystery Anime out there. The first season caught a lot of attention among the anime community for its seemingly unique concept and complex characters.
Season 2 of Bungou Stray Dogs started airing in Fall Anime Season of 2016. It also had a total of 12 episodes and started premiering from October 2016 up to December 2016. Studio Bones was also the one who handled the 2nd season. This season continued where the 1st season left off and managed to do just as well.
Unsurprisingly, because of the success of the 1st and 2nd season the producers went full steam ahead and properly gave the fans a 3rd season. Bungou Stray Dogs season 3 started releasing episodes on April 12, 2019 of 2019 Spring Anime Season. Bungou Stray Dogs keeps it strict and concise as this season also had a total of 12 episodes. The last episode was released on June 28, 2019 and Studio Bones never lets go of this series. Same as the past 2 seasons, Season 3 also gained a lot of popularity which gave way for Season 4.
In Bungou Stray Dogs run, their producers remained the same and I’ll list them here, so that you can clearly see the people responsible for the funding of this great series.

Current Plot
I know there are some psychopaths reading this that just want to skip the 3 seasons and push through the upcoming 4th season. Here at QuoteTheAnime, we do not discriminate. May it be normies, veteran weebs, or psychopaths such as yourselves, we always cater to our visitors. Just don’t say that Pikachu is the strongest Pokemon, because I will…find you!
Bungou Stray Dogs Season 1
Season 1 of Bungou Stray Dogs kicks off with the beginning of the story. We begin with Atsushi Nakajima. Although he has one of the more unique hairstyles in anime, Atsushi is not your run-off-the-mill kid. In the orphanage where he stays he is the only one that can see a tiger that causes strange incidents in the area. He was then wrongly accused, kicked out, and became homeless. Imagine getting thrown out because you were blamed for the actions of a mystical Garfield.
I know it already starts off rather strange, right? What’s even weirder is that now, the hungry Atsushi finds a man trying to commit suicide by drowning himself on the riverbank. This man turned out to be Osamu Dazai. He loves to try and commit suicide but become a detective at the same time.
With the help of Dazai and Doppo Kunikida, Dazai’s partner, Atsushi turns to investigate the tiger that he can only see. With the trio finding out the mysteries behind Garfield they finally get to the bottom of it. But this puts some pressure on Atsushi. He is then recruited by Dazai to join his group of detectives as they solve supernatural cases that the law cannot handle.
Bungou Stray Dogs Season 2
Season 2 is where things get interesting. Three men of different calibers gather in the Lupin Bar to take a rest after a day’s worth of work. But did you know that this bar actually existed and the characters in the story were inspired by real-life people? I know it’s amazing, but what’s more amazing in the anime is that everyone is gorgeous!
Osamu Dazai, the mafia executive, Angou Sakaguchi, a member of the intelligence bureau, and Sakunosuke Oda, the weakest member of the mafia gather in the Lupin Bar. But Angou suddenly goes missing and the perpetrator only left a photograph of the three men together as a clue.
As Dazai switched loyalty and became a part of another group. The Port Mafia, his old party, and The Guild, a new enemy, opens up to fronts against Dazai. In other words, the Armed Detective Agency, Dazai’s new organization, must fight against the new enemies so that they may continue their operations and fight another day.
Bungou Stray Dogs Season 3
Bungou Stray Dogs Season 3 just follows up where Season 2 left off. As the war of the 3 organizations comes to a close, Angou comes back and reveals details of events that happened in the past. The former Port Mafia boss died during Dazai’s early recruitment into the mafia. Dazai was given the mission to look into a strange explosion that happened to the area. But a twist comes up and this incident was closely related as to why the supposed-to-be dead Port Mafia boss suddenly made a reappearance.
Back to the past, Dazai is now associated with the leader of The Sheep known as Chuuya Nakahara. Both of them try their best to uncover the mystery and its relation with the explosion incident. In order to do this, they find a legend surrounding the God of Fire known as Arahabaki.
Back to the present! Well this just became as confusing as the X-men Timeline. In the current time, Dazai’s new organization, the Armed Detective Agency doesn’t have any suspicion of their surroundings. But a great danger is coming to haunt them as both the past, the present, and the future, is about to come back and face them head on.
Source Material
Hey this ain’t everything you need to know if we don’t talk about the Source Material. I mean, come on my g, we gotta talk about EVERYTHING and I mean EVERY SINGLE THING! You bet that I can be Dazai’s subordinate with the skills I have in finding information. Only at QuoteTheAnime boys and girls!
The anime was adapted from the original source material which is the manga. The Manga has the same name but also has an alternative title called Literary Stray Dogs. Talk about weird names. In Japanese you can pronounce it as Bungou Sutorei Doggusu. I know you tried to pronounce it!
The Manga was handled by two people. Kafka Asagiri, the writer, and Sango Harukawa, the illustrator. The Manga is still ongoing with a total of 21 volumes as of now. It started serialization on December 4, 2012 and was published by Young Ace or Kadokawa Shoten.
As I’ve said earlier the people and places in the Manga were all inspired by famous people. Asagiri-san just made a twist where all of them were detectives and had superpowers.
Aside from the Japanese serialization, the English translation was licensed by Yen Press and translated by the big man, Kevin Gifford. Other than that, there were also other spin-offs released because of the popularity of the series. These include Bungo Stray Dogs Wan!, a novel, and Bungou Stray Dogs: DEAD APPLE.

Expected Plot
If you’re an avid manga reader of Bungou Stray Dogs then you might get an idea of what I’m pointing out here. As per confirmation Season 3 ended in Chapter 53 of Volume 13 of the Bungou Stray Dogs Manga. It will probably continue in that pace with another 12 Episodes and there is a likely chance that it will skip some parts of the Manga.
This is because it’s rare to see anime going on for more than 4 seasons and only those with the biggest budget and highest popularity are expected to go that far. Examples of these are One Piece, My Hero Academia, and Naruto, all of which are massive series.
If I calculate correctly it will push from Chapter 54 of Volume 13 onwards and skip some parts that are unnecessary to the story in the manga. It might start of with part 1 of The Perfect Murder, The Perfect Killer. It will continue the Cannibalism Aftermath Arc and from that point on will gradually progress.
In Chapter 54 of the Manga, we see Oguri with committing murder with a shovel as his weapon. Kunikida is still in prison and Ranpo, disguised as some sort of bear, visits him. They discuss how Dostoevsky pushed all the blame onto Kunikida.
Ranpo runs into Poe and the two have a discussion about the forged information from the police that deceived him. Ranpo asks Poe for help to find a man called the “Cleaner” which is responsible for the mess.
Poe and Ranpo further discuss matters concerning a murder of a book author. The man was killed in the same way as in his novels and the clue should be hidden in the unreleased chapters. As Ranpo took a look into the story, he quickly deduced who the murderer was and even his intentions.
As new evidence comes into their hand, a man falling from the tower passes through their window which turns out to be the“Cleaner”himself. The “Cleaner” did not survive and soon anew mysteryappeared before them. They take careful consideration into the things that happened and conclude that this was amurder and not suicide.
They look closer into the corpse and realize that it was not the true “Cleaner”. Ranpo was outwitted by this man and the curtains finally unveiled for a new case to be solved.

Reviews for Bungou Stray Dogs so far
Of course, a true Bungou Stray Dogs fan would like to know of the achievements the series has attained over the course of its very long run. With its increasing popularity, especially for a Seinen Anime Series, there is no doubt that Bungou Stray Dogs has achieved a lot of awards. So in this part of the blog, I’ll give a run through of all the achievements of the series.
Awards
In the year 2014, Bungou Stray Dogs was an entry in the Manga Award Run conducted by Nippon Shuppan Hanbai and garnered 9th Place. This award put Bungou Stray Dogs on the map as this poll aims to find noticeable Manga that a number of bookstores would advertise to the general population.
Just 2 years after winning 9th Place and putting themselves on the map, Bungou Stray Dogs won two awards at the Newtype Anime Awards. This event took place from 2015 to 2016. The series bagged two awards ranking 10th Place in the Character Design Award and 6th Pace in the Best Picture Award. In the year its first season aired, Bungou Stray Dogs already became a force to be reckoned with. Look at my boy go!
In the same anime award event in 2016-2017, Bungou Stray Dogs got more awards than the last year! Bungou Stray Dogs was in 1st Place when it came to Character Design and also bagged 1st Place for the Director Award. The series came in 2nd place for Best Picture Award and Screenplay Award. Bungou Stray Dogs then got 3rd place for Sound Award, and achieved 4th, 5th, and 9th Place in the Theme Song Award.
The song entries were TRASH CANDY (4th Place), Kaze ga f*cku Machi (5th Place), and Reason Living (9th Place). Not only is Bungou Stray Dogs a top-tier show with an amazing storyline, it also has some beautiful music as well.
Popularity
In terms of popularity, Bungou Stray Dogs is the cream of the crop when it comes to anime series. This time, we’ll be taking a look into how people look at Bungou Stray Dogs from different websites across the internet. This will include imdb, myanimelist, and anime-planet. I know you wanna know just how popular Bungou Stray Dogs is, so without further ado, follow me!
MyAnimeList
In MyAnimeList, Bungou Stray Dogs is ranked #101 in terms of popularity. Now that might be far away from No. 1 but when you take into account just how many anime series there are then it’s no doubt that it’s one of the most popular out there.
It has a score of 7.81 and also has approximately 1,027,032 members on the website. Now if those fans were super dedicated they might just make a country on their own and just cosplay as people like in Bungou Stray Dogs. Imagine a place where people always wear suits but don’t go to offices!
IMDb
Similar to MyAnimeList, IMDb also scored Bungou Stray Dogs with a 7.8 rating. One thing that’s different is the ranking in popularity where Bungou Stray Dogs is ranked 1838. This is mainly due to the website itself where IMDb is not an anime dedicated website like myanimelist.
Although it has a 7.8 overall rating, Bungou Stray Dogs has a bit of high critic reviews as well. These include Season 3, Episode 11 getting a 9.1 and Season 2, Episode 3 achieving a 9.3.
Anime-planet
In terms of a smaller and lesser known website like anime-planet, it comes as no surprise that the ratings would be different. Here, they scored a series by stars and Bungou Stray Dogs did not disappoint.
When it comes to ratings Bungou Stray Dogs has 4.1 stars and is ranked #113 which is surprisingly lower than in myanimelist. There are also mixed reviews about the series with a 5/10 in some cases and 10/10 in others.

Short Character List
Osamu Dazai
Osamu Dazai is one of the main characters of the Bungou Stray Dogs Series. Dazai is one of the sharpest and smartest characters in the entire series. As an agent of one of the strongest organizations in the series, the Armed Detective Agency, he is without a doubt a force to be reckoned with. This was also true when he first got into the business as an executive of the Port Mafia.
Dazai possesses an ability called No Longer Human. Whenever he uses this ability, the skills thrown at him by his enemies will instantly get canceled. This is because this power can never be inactive and is only applied whenever he gets into physical contact with the ability of his opponents.
Not only that, Osamu Dazai also has something else up his sleeve. That is his intelligence. Because of this, he is able to quickly rise up the ranks of both the Mafia and the Agency. He also uses his big brain IQ to quickly solve mysteries as well as become mysterious himself.
Atsushi Nakajima
Atsushi Nakajima is another main character of the series and is the one who saved Dazai from drowning. He grew up without parents and was eventually taken into an orphanage. But that did not last long. After a series of events, he was thrown out and forced to starve in the streets. And that is when he met Dazai.
Remember that Mystical Garfield I talked about earlier? Well, it turns out that Atsushi was the one who summoned that beast. Atsushi Nakajima has an ability called Beast Beneath the Moonlight. It gives him the power called weretiger transformation where he can shapeshift into a snow-white tiger.
Atsushi, unlike the others, is more of a Yuji Itadori while Dazai is like Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen. Atsushi cares for others and has a strong moral compass. But due to his past, he is constantly haunted by traumas which affects his confidence and his ability to fight as well.
Doppo Kunikida
Doppo Kunikida is Dazai’s partner and is the one who accompanied both Dazai and Atsushi to investigate the white tiger incident. He is another agent of the Agency that Dazai is in and is also inspired from a real-life Japanese poet.
Kunikida has another unique skill called The Matchless Poet. This ability can be also referred to as Item Creation where anything he writes on paper can form into an existing entity. Although there is a limit to this power, otherwise he would have ruled the world.
The rule that surrounds this ability is that the item he wishes to create must be smaller or the same size as the notebook which means he can’t summon an entire tank. If he could, Kunikida wouldn’t be sitting in jail in Chapter 54.
Unlike Dazai who is crazy and Atsushi who is a traumatized saint, Kunikida is more on the professional side. If Dazai is Gojo and Atsushi is Yuji, then Kunikida would be Nanami from Jujutsu Kaisen. It perfectly captures the chemistry between the trio and collision of their personalities.
Where to Watch
All of the 3 seasons of Bungou Stray Dogs aired on Crunchyroll, Funimation, and even Netflix. It’s safe to say that the 4th season would follow as well and be present in the following platforms. Although there has been no confirmation whatsoever of where it will air? It’s safe to assume that it should be in these 3.
It will still be handled by Studio Bones who beautifully animated the past 3 seasons. The staff will remain the same as well. With that in mind, no doubt, with a 100 percent assurance, it will air on either Crunchyroll, Funimation, or Netflix. Or maybe in all three of them!
