  1. #1 Colleges with the Best Student Life in AmericaUniversity of California - Los AngelesLos Angeles, CA·4 Year·Rating 3.98 out of 5 5,598 reviewsAlum: As with any college, the experience is what you make of it. UCLA just presents a lot of diversity in terms of the experiences that you can have. You can get your party fix in on Thursdays at frat row, kickbacks through cultural or professional organizations, or even a warehouse rave in the Arts District. Academically, there are plenty of opportunities for research and internships. It can be difficult to get into certain classes until you are in your 3rd or 4th year, though. Living on campus is really helpful for finding friends and the food is definitely a blow-out compared to other schools I've visited. Only downside is that housing in general is expensive due to the area, so you'll likely be sharing a room and living on a budget!... Besides the amazing weather, USC is a diverse and supportive environment with tons of school spirit. With so many schools and majors to choose from, academically, you are surrounded by so many talented and intelligent students with various aspirations. I appreciate that USC encourages interdisciplinary studies. As a joint major between the Marshall School of Business and School of Cinematic Arts, I've met likeminded individuals and have got plenty of opportunities to be involved in relevant organizations and get support on internships and my career. 3. #3 Colleges with the Best Student Life in AmericaUniversity of GeorgiaAthens, GA·4 Year·Rating 3.99 out of 5 5,787 reviewsSenior: Going to UGA was the best decision I could have made! It is a great combination between academics and a social scene. I felt like there was always something to do, but there also wasn't immense pressure to go with the crowd. The campus is beautiful with many places to study and hang out with friends. Athens as a whole has also been so much fun to live in. It was more of a small town that I originally expected, but I learned to love its charm. As for academics, I have found great mentorship from my professors, and I have genuinely enjoyed every program I have gotten involved in on campus. What I did not realize were the many factors that came along with starting this new path of life -- living away from home, party culture, the football game frenzy, endless schoolwork, and the underlying pressure of having to make connections and network with others. Although these aspects seemed as though they were going to slowly but surely destroy me, I found great solace in studying (and the occasional bi-weekly matcha latte from Sweetwaters:)). The vast amount of resources in any field from ballet to biochemistry was something truly unique and a gift for someone interested in a multidisciplinary career like me. Further the research opportunities available to even first year students were abundant in every field. One thing I would like to see change is the resources available for people struggling to make friends and find a community. However, I hope my experience improves!... The campus is beautiful, and a reasonable size so finding ones classes, and walking around is manageable. The school is also home to over 300 clubs so finding something to do for my selective interests was doable. The fitness center is also amazing! The equipment is top tier, and the classes offered at the rec center are enjoyable, and are a great way to spend time from studying. The student life is also fun, as wherever you go on campus one will find people, and things to do! The dining halls are also very good, and have numerous food options. I personally have many dietary restrictions, and FSU's dinning hall made it easy for me to see what I can and cannot eat, as well as having numerous choices of food. We have a lot of group projects and discussions and students are really encouraged to work together. I also feel very supported by my professors and TAs. All the professors I’ve had were always super helpful and down to earth whenever I go to their office hours and they are really accessible and accommodating because I can feel they truly care about us as students. In terms of the campus culture, everyone is so bubbly, friendly, supportive, and really passionate about what they do and so they are super active outside of classes as well. 13. #11 Colleges with the Best Student Life in AmericaUniversity of Texas - AustinAustin, TX·4 Year·Rating 4 out of 5 6,784 reviewsSophom*ore: I really love the city of Austin! The "weirdness" of Austin jumps out at you in the best way. The countless times I've gone to the groovy thrift stores or south Congress Ave with friends have been some of the best moments of my young life. The culture at UT is one of a kind as well. I feel that every person attending college feels a certain amount of pride in their school, like its a part of their identity almost. With UT its that and then some. Being from Maryland, experiencing the lone star state has been otherworldly. The pride in Texans and in the school is like no other, and it has certainly rubbed of on me. Though I am only a sophom*ore I am a Longhorn though and through! On top of the great city, the larger than life students, the sports and the like, UT is an academic institution first. 14. #12 Colleges with the Best Student Life in AmericaUniversity of VirginiaCharlottesville, VA·4 Year·Rating 3.92 out of 5 2,420 reviewsAlum: I entered the school wanting a medium-sized town-and-gown experience and got what I wanted. The lack of diversity or meaningful connection to a typical metropolitan population was shocking at first. On a purely anthropological level, the mix and contrast of highly educated, milquetoast upper crust Americans with first generation scholarship students who know the struggle was enlightening. Greek life was overwhelming as someone who wasn't a part of it, yet they had far too much say about university matters for organizations that were ultimately self-serving. For some, the insular grounds can be comforting and grounding while for others, it will be suffocating and claustrophobic. As someone who enjoyed the Blue Ridge Mountains and local specialties, every season brought a treat. That's enough. I've had both irreplaceable and regrettable memories that come with being a college student far from home. If UVA could change for the better, I'd be more optimistic about the nation.... The housing department is difficult to work with, to say the least. But I found a cheap apartment near campus so it turned out fine. The food on campus is great! I haven't gotten involved with clubs or organizations just yet, but I definitely plan to. All of the organizations I've talked to (BSU, SGA, Spanish Club) have been super welcoming, and I'm excited to join! UF benefits from a mix of urban and natural environments, the city is a friendly, college-town vibe and plenty of outdoor activities, cultural events, and a warm climate. However, all of the amazing faculty at Ohio State made it super easy to transition to a new school. I was able to get involved with student organizations from day one of being on campus. I love how many different ways there are to get involved; there truly is something for everyone here. Since it is a larger school, it is a little more dependent on your own self to get involved and take advantage of all the things that are offered. I lived basically like Alix Earle (college wise and not fame wise). There is something to do every single day. I was able to go out 6 nights a week and maintain my workload pretty easily. I absolutely loved all my classes and the professors. Most of my class sizes were small and very discussion based which I find best for learning. My professors were all super nice, available, knowledgeable, and understanding. Campus is beautiful! Greek life is take it or leave it, people involved really like it and I wasn't in a sorority but was still able to go to all the frat parties. I love the academics here and the party scene and I'm so sad I am graduating next week. 22. #20 Colleges with the Best Student Life in AmericaVirginia TechBlacksburg, VA·4 Year·Rating 3.99 out of 5 4,167 reviewsSophom*ore: I have partaken in multiple clubs throughout my semesters here at Virginia Tech where I was able to develop leadership skills that I would have never thought to gain. Out of all the extracurriculars I have partook in, there are a couple I would like to speak upon that greatly impacted my leadership expertise which I can carry onto my future positions. Due to these activities, I took place in, I was able to get the Residential Well-being Student Leader position for the fall and other great opportunities I am grateful for. The leadership opportunities that I took part in include English Language Learner (ELL) Tutor, Sunday School Substitute teacher, and Hokie Health Advisor for the American Medical Student Association (AMSA). 23. #21 Colleges with the Best Student Life in AmericaRice UniversityHouston, TX·4 Year·Rating 4.09 out of 5 1,122 reviewsGraduate Student: Going to Rice University to attend the Shepherd School of Music at a graduate level is an experience separate from the rest of Rice. The Opera Department at Rice University has been one of the best programs in the United States producing incredible singers in the industry for a while now. Financial aid has been decreasing from full rides to having to pay a couple of thousands to attend +fees for a Master of Music. It is case by case, however.Pros: BEAUTIFUL theater that is incredible to sing in, program's very YAP reminiscent (in good and bad ways), world-class faculty, great networking opportunity, masterclasses/private audition opportunitiesCons: your soul/free-time belongs to the Opera Department; if a release conflicts with the opera schedule, tough luck; there have been many issues with casting opportunities/favoritism; if you're a person of color, be prepared to be a token on all promo material; TOO many irrelevant time-consuming academics; having a car is a MUST in Houston... As a black African-American woman attending the university of Mississippi, Id say I have a lot of opportunities at the University of Mississippi. The professors are understanding and very helpful. There are a lot of organizations for everyone. Although there aren’t many people of my race at the University of Mississippi, I have not experience experienced any diversity or discrimination. 25. #23 Colleges with the Best Student Life in AmericaUniversity of Central FloridaOrlando, FL·4 Year·Rating 3.83 out of 5 22,398 reviewsJunior: The University of Central Florida provide students with a broad variety of programs of study, resources, and extra-curricular opportunities. Campus is huge and extremely lively. The school make it easy to get involved in extracurriculars; personally, being in the marching band has been an amazing experience that has allowed me to keep a healthy balance between my studies and my passion for music, not to mention the opportunity it has brought to meet new, wonderful people. Similarly, the many clubs on campus are an amazing way to begin building connections as a new student; in my case, as a Mechanical Engineering major, being involved in clubs gave me the valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience that is applicable to my major within my first semester in UCF. Overall, this school has a plethora of resources and support systems always at your disposal; you won't regret studying here!... 26. #24 Colleges with the Best Student Life in AmericaStanford UniversityStanford, CA·4 Year·Rating 4.1 out of 5 1,285 reviewsGraduate Student: Attending Stanford has been a mix of excitement and challenges. Going to games is a blast, with plenty of sports activities. Professors are generally great but lean politically one way, limiting viewpoint diversity. As a research-focused institution, one-on-one time with professors is limited, though humanities professors are more approachable. Lecturers are decent, reflecting the research emphasis.Campus life can be slow, so finding your group is crucial. The campus is huge and beautiful, with great weather and all necessary amenities. The social scene is limited, and Palo Alto, though affluent, is not very exciting. San Francisco and Oakland are 45 minutes to an hour away, offering more entertainment options. However, most students stay on campus due to the distance and heavy workload, contributing to the "Stanford bubble." Overall, Stanford offers great opportunities, but you need to find your niche to make the most of it.... 27. #25 Colleges with the Best Student Life in AmericaTulane UniversityNew Orleans, LA·4 Year·Rating 3.77 out of 5 1,683 reviewsJunior: Tulane University is such an incredible place for so many reasons. Because it is not said enough, the quality of professors here is absolutely unbelievable. The campus is beautiful, the students are happy, and the weather is perfect, minus the rain. The academics are rigorous but manageable, leaving time to get involved in extracurriculars, explore New Orleans, or anything else you want to do. New Orleans is an amazing and fun city with so much to see! The class sizes, at least for me personally, have been so small, and the relationships I have built with my professors are so special. The social climate can be a bit tough to manage for introverts or for those who do not enjoy going out often, but once you find your niche it is a non-issue. The academics are super flexible, and I'm able to graduate early despite choosing to study abroad! The culture and the people here are truly special, and I urge anyone interested in Tulane to consider checking it out and applying!...
