If you are in the market for a ’70 Chevelle SS396 project that stands head and shoulders above the rest you’d be hard pressed to find a better example than this one.

This is a great example of a very rare and desirable investment grade classic car. It’s a fairly complete, Autumn Gold, black vinyl top and black interior 1970 Chevelle SS 396 4 speed, bucket seat, console, power disc brakes and AC car with its original build sheet and vin matching stamp on frame.
Engine is a ’66 396. Block is standard bore. Also has a correct for 1970 fully rebuilt 660 case M21 4 speed transmission, 621 bellhousing and original Muncie shifter with all the rods. 12 bolt rear end with 3:31 posi. There is a good chance the original eng and trans are still in Mexico but I am not going thru cartel country to get it. I can put you in touch with the widower that may have it if you are brave enuff to go down there.

The car spent most of its life in dry southern Mexico and was just recently repatriated to the US when we found it. Rust was not an issue on this car but we did put quarters on it due to a slight amount of rust at the rear lowers on both sides from dirt accumulation between quarter and drop offs. The hood, deck lid and rear valance are new AMD pieces. The doors and fenders are original to the car and are nice. The interior floor pans, trunk floor, firewall, roof and entire rest of body are all original and rust free. The body was separated from the frame and both frame and body were blasted thoroughly. The body was sprayed in 2 coats of epoxy primer, floors re-seam sealed and is ready for final blocking and paint. The frame, upper and lower control arms and front and rear sway bars were powder coated in the correct black finish.

All the hard work has already been done to this car. The frame has been completely restored with all new suspension bushings and ball joints front and rear, new disc brake rotors and calipers, all new stainless steel fuel and brake lines, new brake hoses and new body biscuits installed. The rear brakes still need to be built out but I have all the original hardware. The 12 bolt rear end was also blasted, primed and painted as were the rear upper and lower (fully boxed) control arms. The 14” SS wheels were also blasted and restored using the correct colors with new center caps. The underside of body and firewall have been painted in the correct black finish.

Interior has the correct front seats and the original rear seats, dash, ect. But will all need redone.
Both front and rear bumpers are new. I have almost every piece of chrome trim, most of the AC stuff, original SS door panels and practically every part needed to restore this car. See the pic with all the parts on the ground. If you don’t see it I don’t have it.
Cars like this dont come up very often anymore. Don’t let this be the car you wish you had bought when you had the chance.
